Dr. Lee’s Renal Failure and Treatment

Suji Lee, M.D. specializes in treating patients in Seattle suffering from kidney disease. Many people experience symptoms such as hypertension (high blood pressure), kidney stones, and kidney failure. Dr. Lee has tremendous experience in treating patients through dialysis. Diagnosing chronic kidney disease also known as CKD is often difficult to identify because many patients have no symptoms and the only diagnosis is determined through a blood test.  This long-term disease of a patient’s kidneys eventually leads to renal failure. Kidney disease is more common than you might imagine. Over 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with chronic kidney disease each year. It is not a curable disease, however, with the appropriate medical diagnosis including lab tests, imaging, and medications, Dr. Lee can help manage her patient’s symptoms.

She reminds her Puget Sound area kidney patients that these symptoms develop over time and are not always specific to the disease itself. Many patients present with no symptoms at all. Once blood tests are complete, at that point the patient is finally diagnosed. No two patients are alike, and Dr. Lee's approach to diagnosis and prognosis is the same. Her approach to treatment depends on the severity of her patient's symptoms. Dr. Lee's forecast can include medication to manage your symptoms, dialysis, kidney transplantation, peritoneal dialysis, and hemofiltration. One of the most important things Dr. Lee reiterates to her patients in the Seattle area is the importance of self-care. By staying on a diet of little protein which dramatically reduces the intake of meat, fish, and cheese is often used to manage the treatment of this joint kidney and metabolic disease.
